The development is located on a hill overlooking the sandy coastline. Only 1 km from the beautiful Tortoreto Lido beach, it benefits from a very pleasant climate all year round.
Heading inland you soon reach (again only 1 km away) “Tortoreto paese”, a village of mediaeval origin.
The old town centre and the old town walls are truly impressive and it is worth paying a visit to the church of St. Mary of Mercy. You may like to visit the Belvedere which overlooks the Salinello river valley, the sea and has the Maiella mountain rising to the south and the majestic peaks of the Gran Sasso mountain chain to the west.
The landscape around Tortoreto features the rolling hills of Abruzzo. Farmhouses, orchards, vineyards, centuries-old oak trees, mediaeval town centres and isolated churches stand out against the background of the Monti della Laga woods and Montagna dei Fiori - the mountain of flowers.
Many local restaurants offer traditional fish and meat dishes.

A comfortable modern sea-side resort, it is ideal for those who want to combine the tranquillity of times gone by with today's creature comforts.
Tortoreto Spiaggia can be reached by bus and rail and has a
post office, banks and bureau de change, a chemist and a first aid point.
The fine, golden sands of the beach run for about 15 km. The sea-water is shallow and extremely clean. There are hotels which attract tourists from all over Europe every summer.
The Gran Sasso Mountain
Only about 50 minutes drive away is Campo Imperatore, ideal for walking and climbing in summer and skiing in winter. There are green valleys surrounded by forests of beech trees and mountains of breathtaking beauty, an emotional but peaceful adventure in the stillness that is associated with the nationaò parks in Abruzzo.
